swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Since this meme is game canon, open, and only for characters in the game, threads here can be used for either Activity Points or the monthly Activity Check.

11calls: Walking in mist is a bad idea, Alex. (do you believe?)

Okay, with the caveat of knowing that it makes me sound insane...

There's a lot of weird stuff going on in my world, and my show investigates it. And then it turns out that both sides of the battle that I didn't know about were sort of using it to draw one another out.

The crazy demonic cults believe that if they played a specific sympathy called the Mysterium at a specific point called the Axis Mundae then it would start the apocalypse.

What we didn't know was that these things that sure didn't sound like music were the Mysterium and my show was the Axis Mundae.

Yes, I know how insane it sounds.

It doesn't sound mad at all. Demons and other rather powerful entities often use mortals as tools. It's a common enough theme in theology, history, and literature to have at least a basis in fact.

Being made a tool for powers beyond your comprehension does not make you responsible for their actions. You do realize that, don't you?

A friend of mine would probably argue that's just human archetypes. But yeah, I agree with you.

[She can't help being Mulder.]

Yeah, I know. But I make enough mistakes on my own that I shouldn't have done with it that it all counts.

They're welcome to argue an ignorant point all they please. The point being ignorant simply because it assumes they know enough about spirits and demons to conject.

That's rather the point of being a tool. You don't know you're being used.

[Alex has had almost a year of people telling her that she didn't cause anything, but she still can't help thinking that she does.

Hell, she's had people telling her that nothing was happening, but here she was with a sleep debt the size of Elon Musk's fortune and guilt that wouldn't go away there.
]

I guess. But I'm still working on solving it and fixing it.

From here? That's quite the feat.

Well, I definitely have all sorts of advantages here that I don't have at home. Like people who can do magic and are more familiar with portals and demons and sacred geometry and stopping the end of the world.

Like yourself.

Demon and sacred geometry...if you're referring to the drawing of sigils, yes. Portals? No one on Thedas has ever devised a means of magical travel save putting one foot in front of the other.

Well, the ancient elves seem to have, but while the Eluvians are indeed a wonder, they area also a mystery. Perhaps in time we'll puzzle out how they work.
11calls: Could you pause the recorder a minute? (Recording)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-13 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I guess they could be sigils, but Richard's expert... [Who may have been his not!dead!wife.] Called them 'sacred geometry. People have been using them for bilocation.

At least, I'm pretty sure they are.
tevinteraltus: {<user name="snackbar">} (081)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-13 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Bilocation? That's a physical impossibility.

[He's going to need proof of that.]

More likely, they are using them to open a doorway through a realm in which physical location is drastically altered.
11calls: (i'm not saying anything)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-13 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Alex is just going to be over here cracking up that he wants proof. Because wow.]

Well, we know that at least in one instance he was recorded as being in his room on video when a witness said that the person in question attacked him. Locked rooms on the opposite sides of complex. The only thing in common were the same symbols drawn on the wall that seem to act as the portal.

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-15 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah ha! There you have it. A "Portal". You know, it is most likely not duplication, but a case of minor time travel.
11calls: (10)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-16 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
From what Simon and other experts have said, it doesn't seem to be time travel. All of them have used the terminology of 'bilocation.'

It's physically impossible to be in two places at the same time.
11calls: yeah this won't come back to bite us in our ass (Wait play that again)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-20 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
On my world we'd say the same thing about time travel.
tevinteraltus: {<user name="anabiotic">} (043)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-21 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
On mine, we would as well, until recently, but bi-location would result in duplication.
11calls: yeah this won't come back to bite us in our ass (Wait play that again)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-21 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
No, because when they undo the spell, they're back together again.
tevinteraltus: {<user name="curled">} (017)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-22 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Then there was no division. One was an illusion.
11calls: yeah I totally am reading (I'm not reading from this book.)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-23 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Illusions can't murder people. Or make them be found with no blood on their clothing from stabbing two people a hundred times.
tevinteraltus: {<user name="anabiotic">} (057)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
No, but demons can, or spirits taking the form of another.
11calls: what does that mean it's this or you're firing me?! (Seriously?!)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
This kid was definitely not a demon. His whole thing is working against them.
tevinteraltus: {<user name="vikael">} (078)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-29 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. Of course, his intentions protect him from impersonation. My mistake.
11calls: yeah I totally am reading (I'm not reading from this book.)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-29 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
No he wasn't impersonated. He admitted doing it.

[yes even killing his family. To be honest alex doesn't even blame him for that.]
tevinteraltus: {<user name="flashystyle">} (001)

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2018-05-31 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
True. I've never heard of a man summoning a demon to do his dirty work. Not once.
11calls: what does that mean it's this or you're firing me?! (Seriously?!)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-06-01 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Never Simon. He's definitely fully anti-demon. He killed his parents because they were basically inviting demons into him and other kids. And he killed other people who were doing it to kids.

Besides, he's trying to help me stop it.

[And he'd made sure she'd touched the Horn of Tiamat, which everything inside of her was saying was important as hell.]
