swipes: a friendr meme
swipes: a friendr memeAny new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

[ It's an odd thought. On the one hand, he knows full-well what it's like, to be feared as a child, convinced he was a monster because he had powers and darkness he couldn't control.
On the other, he lived up to those expectations when he became Kylo Ren, Jedi Killer, and exterminated others like him. Not all Force sensitives-- not the ones who'd go on to join his ranks in the Knights of Ren-- but... the ones who stood by his would-be assassin. Which side of the conflict would he be on, in a world like hers? ]

That's a loaded and complicated question.
[Which means he's getting a loaded and complicated answer.]
There are different thoughts within the mutant community on how to approach coexisting with humans, particularly those who want to exterminate our kind.
Some want to give them a taste of their own medicine, an eye for an eye. Others want peace and understanding between humans, inhumans (a different sort of race with unique powers), mutants, and whatever other race decides to inhabit Earth.
Personally, I started out as one of the former and now I'm actively fighting for the latter, despite how often bigots try my patience. And believe you me, I got myself a temper. Anyways, I learned that punishing the whole of any species for the individuals of that species who do terrible things just perpetuates a cycle of hatred and creates one hell of a body count.
In the end, mutants tend to join forces in times of great threat to us as a whole, but everyone's got their own opinions and their own motivations. Given my experiences, I try and judge the measure of a person by their actions rather than their genetics or past. I've done terrible things that I ain't proud I did, but as someone who's changed their ways, I believe wholeheartedly in redemption and forgiveness, even if it's a hell of a struggle for everyone.

I'm real sorry to hear that my world ain't the only one suffering from that repetitive disease.

How do most people accomplish great tasks? How did you learn to control and grow your abilities?
[She's trying to teach rather than dictate to him the answers. Hopefully he'll be a bit patient with her.]
And there will be, but you got to remember you should only control yourself. Some people can force or mind control others to do or believe something, but how would you feel if someone did that to you? Would you think they'd changed? In my experiences, this behavior only perpetuates distrust.
