swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

We have robots from where I'm from, but they're called droids and none have looked fully humanoid as you.

The police robots all look vaguely humanoid. But I'm the only one with a soul. Feelings.

I'm afraid I don't know how. My creator is the only one who knows the process and he kept that secret with him.

That would make sense. Something as precious as that would need to be kept a secret.

It does make me feel a little lonely, being on my own.

I can understand that. It's...not something you ever get used to.

No. But I can't say I'm not fortunate.

Tell me a little more about your droids. What are they like?

They’re each unique and have their own personalities—granted it’s sort of programmed in, but they all differ in size and shape. Depending upon what needs you have, there’s a different droid for that.

So their creators give them all personalities?

Yes, more or less. It depends upon what sort of code that's used. Some are more masculine or feminine than others.

The 'creators' are referred to as 'makers.'

Are there many of them?

[talentedscavenger]

Depending on where you are, there could be a few, or thousands. Or, if you're on a more posh planet, possibly hundreds of thousands, hard to really say.
