swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Since this meme is game canon, open, and only for characters in the game, threads here can be used for either Activity Points or the monthly Activity Check.

how much choice are you giving me while you're trying to dictate my choices?

Those actions don't affect just you. Talking about how you think I'm going to end the world would affect me more than you, and I'd prefer not to have people thinking that here. As for stalking Alex, it both makes her uncomfortable and is illegal, as is murder.

[Richard doesn't actually think Simon would commit random murder, but he knows the boy would go after anyone he thought hurt Alex. After all, he wanted to do the same when she was kidnapped. The difference is that Richard had the forethought not to do it. He doubted Simon had the same.]

Alex wants you to be able to live a life you couldn't, to give you choices -

[He pauses, frowning heavily as he weighs his words. 'That I never had' almost were the words that he spoke, but they're too personal, too much something that Simon neither needs nor wants to know.

Simon shouldn't be privy to the life that Richard has learned that he's had, to the thoughts that he's never had a real choice, except Alex and maybe Charlie. They're personal, things that Richard wants to keep close to him, so instead he moves the conversation in a different direction.]

that weren't have been available to you before.

It’s really too late for me. She’ll have to realize that eventually.

[ It’s a very simple response to all of it but it’s true enough. He’s long since lost the ability for normal or anything like it he’s sure. He just wants to protect it for others. ]

That's, not, how Alex works.

[It's a little simplistic, but to an extent, so is Alex. She isn't the sort of person who just gives up on others because it's hard. If she were then they would have never met, he would have never found out what happened to Coralee and never known what Thomas Warren was doing.]

She's stubborn and persistent. She pushes until you want to give in, and she never leaves. No matter what you do.

[There's something in the way Richard says it that's actually fondness. He loves her; every stupid trait she has, even if it annoys him is something he's grown to love about it. Even those traits that, verbally, people would think are negative have a positive connotation when talking about her.]

And it's never too late.

[It's something he learned from her.]

Your experience with her won't be everyone's, Strand.

[ Simon is sure of that and that he likely enough to make her leave even if he doesn't really want to. It's really too late and it's only a matter of time after all. ]

We'll see.

[ Simon doesn't really want to argue with Strand right now. ]

No, but we're both, similar, in a way that translates for her. Even if you don't want to see it.

[For Richard, this is a typical conversation regarding Alex, even if that conversation is only within his own mind. Most conversations remained in his head, About Alex or otherwise, so he had a lot of time to think about it.

Simon wouldn't like the comparison between himself and Richard. He'd probably deny the fact of it, but at the end of all things, Richard knew they were alike. It was simply that Simon embraced the things that Richard denied. That all too realistic fiction of what he and Alex thought was really going on.]

How are we similar at all, Strand?

There's, a brokenness about us.

[It's something he hates to admit, but something Simon might need right now. Not that he cares what Simon needs except that he does. It's a truth, something that only someone who's been through the sort of realization that they have can fully understand.]

It's what keeps us moving, and makes us who we are. And no one, except us, is allowed to understand it.

[Except Richard had let Alex in (or more she forced her way in) and now she understood him better than anyone ever could (most of the time). If Alex could do that for Richard, he knew someone could do that for Simon.]
