swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

[ All Wally can do is stand there smiling sheepishly while she laughs and teasingly chides him because he knows it's well deserved. He knew precisely what it is she was getting at and still found himself dragging his feet anyway. The truth is this is more than making sure they're on the same page and a kiss, it's something that will make the concept of him trying to move forward with his life a reality.

It's kind of a big deal that has a myriad of emotions whirling inside him now that he is actually on the cusp of taking that step. He meant it when he said he had no doubts about wanting to give this a shot, but seemingly letting go of everything he's been firmly holding onto for so long is proving to be a little more difficult than he thought it would be.

Fortunately, Skye provides just the shove he needs in the form of the callback to their text conversation banter about whether or not he is a pillow princess.

It has him murmuring a barely audible heh in response before he's placing his free hand under her chin to tilt it up so he can lean in at the right angle, his eyes closing somewhere along the way, and capture her lips with his. The kiss is soft and gentle, it is their first one after all, but it also indubitably holds a hint of passion, desire, and a promise of things to come during the time that it lasts.

He eventually pulls infinitesimally away, looking at her through half-lidded eyes, his breath coming out quicker than normal and heart racing in a way a run never quite manages to accomplish. The corners of his mouth curve into a sly smile he really doesn't deserve to own given how exhausting it must have been for her to get him to this point. ]

That better?

[ is it better? well, it's certainly not bad. if she's honest, she's surprised by the softness of it, how gentle and reserved he's managed to be even after everything — surprised, but not disappointed, either. but she ought to answer the question, and so skye does, her own mouth curving into a lazy smile of her own in the process. ]

I don't know... I might need to do that again. [ a beat. just to torture him. ] You know, for the science of it all. Gotta make sure you're consistent.

[ she won't force him to make all the moves this time, though. returning the favor just requires that skye stretch a bit, leaning up on tiptoes and balancing with a hand to his chest in order to press her lips just that much more firmly against his own — which, strangely enough, gives her a little bit of a jolt, static electricity zipping across her skin where her hand had splayed out. the sensation earns a laugh that carries into the kiss and then the air as they pull apart, bright and cheerful and leaving skye sounding altogether very pleased with herself. ]

Easy, tiger.

[ Her need for more data so she can reach an official conclusion isn't going to get any complaints from him. Not when it means she's bringing her lips back to his for something a little more intense this time, and he's all too happy to oblige her now that the seal has effectively been broken. The subsequent jolt coming from the energy coursing through his veins that has her curling her fingers slightly around the fabric of his shirt and laughing against his mouth before she pulls away is a shock to him in a completely different way.

There's only a very short list of people who have been able to draw that type of reaction out of him. His mouth opens in preparation of asking if she's okay, he did zap her even if just a little, but Skye telling him to take it easy with that all too pleased expression of hers causes a breathy chuckle to come out instead as he explains. ]

Just the speedster equivalent of carpet static. [ Meaning it's perfectly harmless all things considered. ] Guess I'm still a little charged up from my run earlier.

[ There was no earlier run, and he doesn't expect her to buy it, but she's a little too proud of herself at the moment for him to give her the satisfaction of admitting the little burst of energy that had emitted from him was her doing no matter how obvious it may be. He'll have to be a little more cognizant of things in the future to avoid a repeat performance.

He considers leaning in for another go when the sudden sound of footsteps rhythmically pounding on pavement somewhere off in the distance reminds him they aren't exactly alone right now. Wally's never been particularly shy when it comes to public displays of affection, but he isn't sure he's ready to share this with the world just yet. Tomorrow, perhaps. ]

As much as I could stand here doing this with you all night, maybe we should find some place a little more private? We could still do the pizza and action flick thing without the heart-to-heart. [ A feigned sigh before he adds: ] And if you think you need more proof for the science of it all, I could be persuaded to supply it.

[ Because, yes, kissing her and the like is a sacrifice he would be willing to make in the name of science. Such a selfless guy, he is. ]
