swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

The Elflands. It is an empire that few have heard of, in this place.

[ Which is kind of a good and a bad thing; he's homesick, but also, he knows that whatever he does here has very little chance of ever making it back home, and he doesn't have to contend with as many prejudices and pre-formed opinions about Ethuveraz. ]

[ Text communication, the way people do it here, is so difficult to parse. Specifically, Maia isn't certain if he is being insulted or not. Probably? Who knows. He'll try not to jump to conclusions. But he might slip back into the familiar comfort of more formal speech, rather than forcing himself to be casual. ]

Emperor of Ethuveraz, not king. And while our subjects are chiefly elves, we are elven on our father's side, and goblin on our mother's.

[ Surely if this guy is just heckling, that will prompt some kind of spiteful or condescending comment... Maia is testing him a little. ]

Perhaps not so great a leap as you are imagining. Our mother was very ill, for as long as we could remember. We cared for her the best we could, and are glad for a chance to comfort others who are suffering. Becoming emperor was never our choice. This is.

[And as flippant as Dante is, he's not really joking. He doesn't know much outside of his own experiences and as colorful as they are he's pretty specific. Not really the researching type.]
