swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

There are great white Bears, whales of many sizes and colours, jellyfish nearly an arm's span across, and there are also tiny crustaceans and animalcules that can only be seen with a microscope. It is truly wondrous.

The few people we met were kind. Some knew of other explorers from our land that had come before us—their word for us was Kabloona, and they called themselves the Inuit. But I am afraid that they were ill-used by some of our men—it is a sad story, not best suited for this medium.

[ 100% deliberately does not deny that space fun is mostly "not dying". He's never seen a plane before, but the implications in skydiving write themselves.

He thinks that objectively he'd probably hate skydiving. He thinks that about a lot of the things he ends up doing, though. Sometimes not dying is a really good time. ]

We've got one working shuttle that belongs to the Perimeter Guard. But I feel like parachutes wouldn't be hard. Pretty big city. Plenty of places to look. Takes care of about half of our problems.

No, no. I thoroughly understand. I also have nothing against mercenaries. I've done some of my most rewarding work beside men and women who were getting paid to be there.

Honestly, there's very little difference between mercenaries and soldier, when it comes down to it. I suppose I was more judging of the implication you seem to feel you deserve some sort of praise on top of compensation of a more practical variety, but I do understand the desire to be recognized for your contributions, especially if you haven't received any sort of payment for services rendered.
