swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Yeah, me included. I had one once, it was nice while it lasted. Kind of hoping I can just go back to that while I'm here. You too, I take it?

Well, some folks are born not being eligible for a "normal" life, but it sure sounds like a goal.

Maybe not, but that depends on your definition of normal right? A lot of people can be "normal" here who would stick out pretty bad on my world.

That's what I'm going for. You had any luck so far? Being normal, that is?

Yeah, I get to work at an animal shelter. I'm not a student here but no one's stopping me from sitting around and sketching during my free time, you know? It's pretty cool.

Not being in a war between gods pitted against each other is the kind of cool I'm going for here. It's almost like I can pretend there's nothing different about me at all. As long as it stays like that, that's about as normal as I can ask for.

I'm no hero, once protecting people against monsters and exploring new terrain becomes a mandatory part of living here I'll jump ship. Until then? Things seem to be looking up.

Heroes aren't born, and most heroes don't think of themselves that way. I'm not a hero, either, but a lot of people depend on me, and if someone need to stay up against all the nasty that likes to find it way to innocent people, it's better me than them.

I feel you, though. It's not a life that lets you live it, and I'm never going to be the one who says choosing otherwise makes you a bad person. Lord knows I have.
