swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Since this meme is game canon, open, and only for characters in the game, threads here can be used for either Activity Points or the monthly Activity Check.

Ah, so it's that you tame dragons in your world. That is not a practice common to Thedas.

How large are your dragons?

I wouldn't call them tame, necessarily, but once you win a dragon's loyalty, you've won it for life. They're amazing creatures.

Thedas isn't another 'we have to kill all the dragons' kind of world, is it? Because I'll have to clear my schedule for an argument.

It depends on the species. Dragons range from the size of a medium dog to the size of a mountain.

So noted. I can think of a few from Thedas who'd adore the thought of riding a dragon.

Honestly, they've made a bit of a resurgence in the last 30 years or so, and we don't seek out to destroy them. It's a battle of survival if a High Dragon's ever encountered, though it is also my encouragement we leave it alone. They're massive, breath fire, lightning, and ice, and are not to be trifled with. I suppose some make a sport of hunting lesser dragons and drakes, but I have better things to do with my time.

It is pretty incredible. It's a big thing on Berk, we even have dragon races and include them in our Thaw Festival competitions.

That's good to hear at least. I guess they might be different where you're from, but on Berk, they're just like any other large animal; for the most part, they aren't aggressive unless you attack them first, or invade on their territory. There are... exceptions, though, certain species.

You speak as an authority on the subject. Am I correct in that assessment?

Something like that. I've trained a lot of dragons in the last few years, seen a lot of new species.

You train dragons? For what purposes?

[He imagines they're very good to have on your side in a fight, for instance.]

To ride, to help around the village, or just to calm down an aggressive or injured dragon that needs to be relocated or helped in some way. Once a dragon trusts you, you have its trust for life.

When you say "help around the village", what precisely do they do? Paint the fences? Clear irritating undergrowth?
thisisamazing: (earnest smile)

[personal profile] thisisamazing 2018-05-20 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sometimes a controlled burn can clear farmland faster. Dragons can also help by fertilizing the fields, and lifting heavy things for construction. It's a mutually beneficial relationship since we also help them by providing shelter and food. Dragons are as much a part of our village as the people.

You speak as though they're livestock. Do you not have horses?
thisisamazing: (listening)

[personal profile] thisisamazing 2018-05-24 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
They're not livestock, they're not sheep or yaks, they're

They're part of our families. Our tribe. It's just that on Berk, everybody helps out so that everybody can thrive.

But no. We don't have horses.

Fine, but they're still beasts of burden, like draft horses or oxen.

I've known men who treated both like family.
thisisamazing: (serious pout)

[personal profile] thisisamazing 2018-05-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not remotely 'beasts of burden'. Toothless is my best friend and my partner. We fly together because we choose to, because he chooses me. A horse doesn't choose its rider.

I know a horsemaster who'd disagree with you, but very well, then. They are not remotely like horses.
