swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

It wasn't just random.
I'm a mutant. It's kind of complicated and hard to explain.

A mutant? Fascinating! I myself am a hybrid. And you know, all of the best stories are complicated ones.

Where I come from, a select group of people are born with what's called the x-gene.
It's usually genetically passed down through families, but it isn't always. A
lot of different mutations can evolve from it,
there are people who develop wings, super speed, the ability to control the weather, shape shifters..
Usually it develops during puberty, so that's always a grand time.

One gene but a variety of mutations? Now I wish I hadn't fallen asleep during Rosalind Franklin's lecture! Curious that they remain latent during childhood. Some of my... less desirable features did as well. I would even say it's possible that the two are related if it weren't for the fact that warlocks can't have children.

Considering how vast the multiverse is, I wouldn't put it passed it to not be related or to be.
It could be a gene variation.
But honestly the science of it isn't something I'm well-versed in at all.
