swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Since this meme is game canon, open, and only for characters in the game, threads here can be used for either Activity Points or the monthly Activity Check.

Never met the man, so I couldn't say. The agent was pretty decent, though.

That's good though! I've met some who can be assholes in the course of my show.

Yeah, I have a podcast back home for Pacific Northwest Stories. It's about investigating the unexplained.

Cryptids and the like?

That's what I thought it'd be when we started out. A friend of mine, Richard, he runs an institute that debunks the paranormal. But he has these series of videos that can't be scientifically disproven. Yet, anyway. A lot, not all, but certainly enough that it's worrisome are connected to demons and cult activity.

So, we've been working from there.

He'd be the skeptic friend you've mentioned, then?
11calls: not actually married alex reagan and richard strand (totally platonic couple)

Yep. Dr. Richard Strand. He's my Scully. Well, the Scully to my Mulder anyway.

Is he on your podcast as well?
11calls: Walking in mist is a bad idea, Alex. (do you believe?)

Yep! The show originally was going to be about interesting people doing interesting jobs and we started with paranormal researchers. But then everyone we spoke to mentioned Strand and I basically called him so many times that he let me interview him to shut me up. He had cases that couldn't be scientifically disproven and I got him to show me one and we investigated it.

Then it kind of became about him and the Institute and his Black Tapes. I called them that because he keeps the case files in old VHS holders.

So what did you find? About that case you worked together.
11calls: Walking in mist is a bad idea, Alex. (do you believe?)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-24 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Um. A lot actually. Way way way more than what I was ever expecting. In cliffnotes? Strand's at the center of a massive conspiracy to bring about the end of the world, his missing-and-presumed dead wife is actually not dead or missing and instead was an agent for that conspiracy, demons, sacred geometry, evil math, cults, corporate espionage, cults, creepy kids, eugenics, and bilocation.

[A beat, that's coupled with a grin he can't see.]

And yeah, I know how crazy that all sounds.

I promise you, I've heard crazier.

Magic cop in London, that makes sense.

Gods and spirits and civilizations living underground. I get it, believe me.

Gods? What sort of pantheon are we talking.

[Don't say Sumerian. Don't say Sumerian.]
thestarling: ([gn] superhero pose)

[personal profile] thestarling 2018-04-27 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really a pantheon. The terms gods and genii locorum get thrown around pretty interchangeably. River gods.
11calls: (12)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-28 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Man, if Rivers are gods in your world, they must be pretty pissed at humans. I would be.

[personal profile] thestarling 2018-05-02 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well Father Thames did fuck off out of London because the river was too polluted. So you're not wrong.
11calls: yeah this won't come back to bite us in our ass (Wait play that again)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-02 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
What happened to the river itself then? Did it like dry up or something?
thestarling: (this apple?)

[personal profile] thestarling 2018-05-02 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's still there. It just had no genius loci until Mama Thames came along in the fifties.
11calls: (7)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-05-03 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, that actually makes a lot of sense really. Especially as to why some waterways die and some come back when they're cleaned up and stuff.

I mean, if it's a thing in my world, but at this point who even knows?
