swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Since this meme is game canon, open, and only for characters in the game, threads here can be used for either Activity Points or the monthly Activity Check.

He was the one guarding the beanstalks, but they shrunk him down to be less conspicuous. He doesn't seem to mind.

Five. Most of them were born in the same world, but they went to others for one reason or another.

Wow. I know it probably shouldn't surprise me that they have the ability to do that, but it does for some reason.

Was it easy for people to travel between worlds?
jolting: (W: Hesitance)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-19 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on the method. Magic mirrors aren't very common, and not every tornado is going to sweep you off to another land. Magic beans made it easy to travel between realms, but they were very rare-- which is where our giant came in, as it happened. He was growing new beanstalks for us.

So there really is no "easy" method, just varying types of difficult ones.

Wow. That is a lot of ways though. Do people randomly find themselves in one of those worlds from like normal ones?
jolting: (W: Welp)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-20 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean the World Without Magic? Well, there was that Connecticut Yankee who was in King Arthur's court. Dorothy, of course. Alice, and Wendy and her brothers. But I think they're the exception rather than the rule.
11calls: Shakespeare is better than you, Richard (I can be pretentious too)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-21 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, calling it "normal" was probably really offensive. I definitely apologize. Still learning the whole new terminology thing!

So Mark Twain was right? I'll need to remember that.
jolting: (W: Whatever)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-21 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it. Besides, "normal" is subjective. I can't really fault you on your perceptions.

I wouldn't say that. He just happened to write a version of the real story. It happens all the time. Miss Shelley's novel has some elements of truth to it, but it's not completely accurate.

Did you ever meet her? Mary Shelley, I mean.
jolting: (W: Whatever)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-21 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Never heard of her until I got to Storybrooke.
11calls: (12)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-21 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Do you know how people like her got your stories?
jolting: (W: Welp)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-21 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of us know of an exact reason, but my theory is that some of the magic in our worlds still leaked its way into that one. At least enough that people like her or the Grimm brothers got some aspect of our stories.
11calls: (wtf)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-22 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
God, I'm a reporter and that even sounds invasive to me!

I'm really sorry you guys need to deal with that, Doctor.
jolting: (V: Profile)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-22 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of us see it that way.

It's a little flattering. And in a way, we're immortal. I can't complain about that, with all the work I've done in that area.

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-22 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
That is actually a really great way of looking at it. I'm kinda impressed, actually.
jolting: (W: Talk)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-22 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It does help that we were cursed with memories of growing up with the popular versions of the story. Puts it into perspective when for a while, even you believed you were just a fictional character.
11calls: is it true you went missing for five days? (questioning)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-23 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Someone was really, really unhappy with you guys, huh?
jolting: (W: Welp)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-23 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
You've got that right.
11calls: yeah this won't come back to bite us in our ass (Wait play that again)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-23 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry if this seems insensitive, but which villain was the one who did it? I mean grabbed all of you guys? Was it just one or was there like a supervillain group that all worked together?
jolting: (W: Crouch)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-23 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's a reasonable question.

You familiar with the story of Snow White? It was the Evil Queen from that tale.
11calls: (wtf)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-24 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's really not who I was expecting. I mean she goes down pretty easily in the movie or what not.
jolting: (W: Whatever)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-24 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
You mean the Disney movie? Yeah, in that one all the dwarfs are bald with white beards, too. And Snow White doesn't do that much.

They get things wrong.
11calls: Shakespeare is better than you, Richard (I can be pretentious too)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It almost makes me wish for a wiki so I didn't need to be annoying and ask about what they do get wrong.

But I hope that means that all the Disney princesses kicked way more ass in actual life.
jolting: (W: Concentrate)

[personal profile] jolting 2018-04-24 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I don't know what a wiki is.

But you're right about that.
11calls: (3)

[personal profile] 11calls 2018-04-24 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
A wiki is like an online encyclopedia that allows loads of different users to edit what it says. So it's good for things that a lot of different people have knowledge of.

And I'm glad! I always imagined that they did when I was a kid!

Sounds a little chaotic, but useful. If you're really curious, you should talk to my daughter. She knows all the stories.
