swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

What would the difference be between a mage and an Altus mage?

Pedigree. We can trace our lineage back to the original Dreamers, which I realize probably means nothing to you.

Nothing at all but I understand pedigree, being a part of the nobility myself.

Altus is also a class. Coincidentally, the one on top, though not all of us feel we should be.

It's all rather complicated, but to simplify, the majority of the Altus who sit on the Magisterium as our leaders see a glorious past as the present and neglect to serve anyone they rule over aside from themselves. Without proper representation from all the classes of the Imperium, there will never be equality.

You are of noble birth, yes? Are you the heir apparent? If so, do you not agree all your citizens should be cared for and protected by their government, not dominated by it?

I am, on both counts. I've already succeeded the former Earl but yes. I do believe my duty is to the people living on the estate I oversee. As well as the rest of polite society.

A government that does not care for it's people has no right to sovereignty.

I'm glad we're in agreement. If only one class is allowed to rule, then only that class's interests will be addressed in a timely manner. There was once a time when all classes were represented in the Magisterium...that ship has sailed, unfortunately, but there is certainly room for reform.

'The Queen reigns but she does not rule.' In England, we have a Parliament made up of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The House of Commons is purely elected officials.

Forgive me if this is rude, but why did your people split off from equal representation?

Our Archon is much the same. He is an elected official, and his vote is normally reserved for the breaking of ties.

Ah, that is a very long story, and a course that has taken place over a thousand years and involves quite a bit more than I'd care to get into at the moment.

...suffice to say it was corruption that diverted the course of Tevinter, and it's something I hope to change during my tenure in the Magisterium.

That is a lofty goal. You'll need a great deal of support, it sounds like, but I'm sure you know that.

It means little, but I wish you all the luck in clearing such corruption.

We're a small group, but we're growing. The Imperium once ruled over most of Thedas. We aren't looking for conquest, but I believe we can be great once again, and a source of pride, not a stain to be hidden with a fashionable carpet, as we are now.
