swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Things with a lot of energy usually turn out well. Sledding. Paintball. I got hit in the face in a mosh pit last month. It was in a fun way. I think.

Puzzles aren't bad if they take thinking over. Haven't tried a lot of books or anything yet. I'm good at sitting still, but I don't always like doing it.

Mosh pits are always fun. I spent a fair amount of time there when I was younger. Have you tried just running and listening to music? It always works for me to get out extra energy.

Have you tried 3-d puzzles? The sort that you need to be like moving to do? It's too bad we're not home. I'd set you up with Pokemon Go.

I feel like we'd have a good crowd if we got together everyone in this city who runs to burn off energy. You're at least the fifth one I've met. Not including me. But you know. Can't meet myself.

I don't know what Pokemon Go means. 3-d puzzles sound interesting, though?

We seriously should have some sort of club. People do that back home sometimes.

I wonder if Tony Stark could make Pokemon Go, actually. I mean I still have it on my phone, it just doesn't work here. It's a game where you run around collected fake creatures called Pokemon. It's fun and a good way to be active.

3-D puzzles are puzzles that are put together in all three dimensions. My Dad loves them. They also can be really hard so he calls it a good brain workout.

I'm technically allowed to meet up with two of us. If I ask ahead of time. I think they like more solitude. But I don't mind company if you think we could get traction.

I'm gonna reserve making a judgement call on how fun any game is until I see it in action. I can definitely say I like the sound of the puzzles, though. Like to think I can think in three dimensions.

There are definitely worse things to do than running in a group. I can't imagine it would be too hard. Actually, I talked to Tony Stark and he's going to create the game if I can get people to map the area, so there's that.

It's going to take him a day. Man, I wish I was that crazy smart.

Just a day? Kind of glad I'm NOT that smart. I'd either get bored too fast or I'd have too much going on.

Definitely plenty of places around here worth running through. And if it helps get something made, we might get more volunteers.

Cool. When I get the specifics from him, I'll let you know! It'll be fun. You go places and catch computer pokemon. I know we have actual pokemon here, but keeping them for real just seems really cruel to me.

I'm not much for pets anyway. Sometimes it's work just keeping myself and my friends alive. Not really in a good place for something that needs me to keep it alive every day of the week.

I'm better than that, and if you want some pet time, I do have a dog you can come chill with.

This is Apo. Short for Apophenia. He is very chill and snuggly.

[ He doesn't know how to make animal assessments. Jyn sent him a picture of her cat and he was kind of like "what's that thing called". But as far as he can tell, this seems like a nice dog. Most dogs have seemed nice, when he's seen them. ]

Apophenia's a hell of a name.

He reminded me of a friend back home who said it to me often enough that it became a joke on the show.

Yeah, it means basically, seeing connections between things when there isn't one. It's like your mind mixing patterns to make something that makes sense to you. My friend, he uses it to explain things like ghosts and hauntings and stuff like that.

Huh. [ Friendr is helping Finn's vocabulary one day at a time, basically. ] Kind of nice that there's a specific word for that.

Yeah. I think a lot of the best words for random things aren't in English though.

It all sounds like Common to me. Only language I know.

Maybe some of the scientists with the Perimeter Guard know what that's about. We escort them out sometimes, but I don't usually ask about what they've been up to.
