swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

I see. I guess some people do prefer being able to mix different styles together, though it's not something I ever explored myself.

I do. I wanted something to keep me active and that seemed as good an idea as any.

Is that one of the ones you've tried?

Is that because it was more common where you were or just preference?

my teachers focused on strikes
grappling wasn't as important

and on the movements. not the
philosophies

[so aikido didn't have much to offer besides learning the kata in about ten minutes and moving on. it's about 80% true.]

I see. I'm not sure I can entirely approve of that way of thinking but maybe your world's just more dangerous than mine.

[At least, she can understand that in a world more dangerous than hers, priority would go to what would actually keep people safe and so philosophies would be inclined to change or go ignored.]

[Makoto should probably know better than to assume benefit of the doubt, but then she likes to assume the truly rotten adults are the exceptions not the rule.]

I suppose most martial arts are. Even if they seem similar, it's the details that make them what they are. Though I guess you'd know that better than I do.
