swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

A few things. Not as much as I'd like. Mostly on what people can do that's different from my world, I guess.

Never thought about looking into that, I've been more focused on the quarantine itself, the history and why we're here.

Anything you can think of, restrictions have more to do with laws and morals than what alchemy is capable of.

Did you want to come here or did you just get nabbed like me? That's one of the reasons that I haven't done it. I don't want to get invested here when I have things that I need to go home and do.

I wasn't on my home world when I wound up here. The portal knew what it was doing with me, I guess. Home's not exactly an option for my future, besides I kind of like it here.

Can I ask where you were when it grabbed you? Was it another place like this?

Sort of. We were pulled in by gods, not a portal. The tech wasn't nearly as advanced but a lot of it was more than I'm used to.

Like Thor and Loki or different universe gods?

Wait, those guys are gods?

Their spokesman was named Arawn, but they weren't really up front about who controlled people coming and going.

Medea and Asclepius pulled me into the first world I got dragged to, they weren't the only gods there either.

I've only really heard about them in passing.

[Ed doesn't even know he's met one of the Lokis, and his knowledge of the other one was pretty personal to be aware of, especially when the subject matter is some sort of god. He might actually still be a little bitter about the whole world view change that came with the acceptance of gods.]

Spend your whole life insisting gods and magic don't exist and the universe makes a joke out of you.
