swipes: a friendr meme

swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Code to post your character's bio is in the textbox below.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.

● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Much like the TDM, threads on this meme can count for Activity Points, but not the monthly Activity Check.

Oh? And what have you heard?
wiccant: (just thinking out loud.)

Tales of your raids against Francia and England and deeds preformed in Odin's name. Numerous stories about your sons.

[Aw, stop, Billy was going to make him blush. Maybe not. But he definitely had a smug smirk on his face now.]

You should not worry. I have no boats here. No boats, no raids.

[He'll just conveniently gloss over the 'deeds performed in Odin's name' part.]

( how do you say: i'm a huge norse nerd and a giant fanboy without it sounding even mildly similar to that. )

I'm not worried. I don't think having excellent sailing skills is going to help you cross the multiverse. And having boats wouldn't get you too far on this moon.

( but the mental image of ivar and ragnar chilling on a boat in the middle of one of the lakes waving their axes around is pretty funny. )

Well then why should you be hesitant to tell me about where you are from. If you have heard the stories about me, does that mean you are Saxon? Or a Frank?

[Although he and Ivar hadn't had any boat adventures since arriving, they had played a Viking drinking game that entailed chucking axes at one another's heads. You don't get more Viking than that, honestly... Unless, they'd played said game on a longship.]
wiccant: (must have forgotten.)

The country I live in won't be discovered by Europeans for another couple centuries or so after your time. Although I suppose my ancestors were just a little more South East than you had gone. Not easy to get to by boats.

Wouldn't want anything I say to cause a rift in the time/space continuum though. Just in case.

South East? South of the Baltics?

[He'd raided there before, but, naturally, they'd only gone as far South as they'd been able to get by boat.]

What is your country called?
wiccant: (what should i do?)

[personal profile] wiccant 2018-02-14 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
South of the Baltics is where my ancestors were from.

The country I live in is a lot more West, over the ocean. The United States.

( ragnar isn't too far behind leif ericksson (supposedly) discovering canada, but far enough, right? )

I have heard of it. Not in my time, but here. I know another who is from that land. He told me about your king... but there is another word for it. That the people choose their ruler and it is only for a set amount of time, though they rule over fifty kingdoms. Your country sounds very strange but very interesting.
wiccant: (i must have kicked them out.)

President.
There are a lot of countries with presidential systems in my time.
I think Sweden has a Prime Minister.

Yes, that is it! President.

Is a Prime Minister like a President? The people choose them and they only rule for a short time? It is an interesting way to choose a ruler. Maybe better. I especially find the limit on how many years a person may rule interesting. Does it keep rulers from becoming corrupt?
wiccant: (keep heading in the same direction.)

Politics isn't really my thing, you may get better answers asking someone else stuff about them. England has a Prime Minister too despite also having the Queen so it's not really the same as a President? But they are elected.
The limited time in power was probably meant to stop leaders from getting corrupt.
