swipes: a friendr meme

Any new arrival to the city has seen the ad for a free app popping up on their devices, and anyone who's been around for a while probably has a profile and has used it a bit. It's almost universal in the city - Friendr, a friend-finder and/or dating app. If characters choose to install it, they will fill out a short bio and parameters for what they're looking for, upload a snap of themselves, and then proceed to browse for matches. This is a typical swipe-left-or-right type app. The default color scheme can be seen below, but the Friendr app has a wide variety of themes, so feel free to customize with colors and patterns as you see fit, but do not remove the credit line out of respect for the creator of the code.

Friendr base code is by photosynthesis.
● Post up a top-level for your character with their Friendr profile and then go around and swipe left or right on everyone else's!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to window shop other characters' Friendrs while they're all gathered conveniently into one place.
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Much like the TDM, threads on this meme can count for Activity Points, but not the monthly Activity Check.

I didn't know there were pokemon here! whoa. I could be living out my childhood dream right now.

[A beat, before the next text is sent as if he wasn't sure about answering that part at all.]
Nah, I can't swim. It has been a long time since I've seen any movies though, and I bet they're totally different from what I'm used to with the technology here.
You have Pokemon back home?
no subject
oh man, how long has it been since you watched movies?
[He just slides right by the issue of swimming. The answer's been given, no reason to keep talking about it. Marco might not usually be tactful or delicate about things, but when it comes to that kind of thing - limitations that people's bodies put on their lives - he can be pretty smooth.
A beat.]
no, not real ones. I used to play with cards that had them though.

[He definitely appreciates skipping over the swimming part, it's not something he's entirely secretive about so he might talk to Marco about it down the line, but for now this was fine.]
At least ten years, I think. I lived in a small village growing up so we only got to see movies when a theater owner brought a projector into town.
[Well that certainly made his conversation with Nico make a lot more sense.]
So Pokemon are part of a card game in your world? I guess that explains a few things.
no subject
oh man, you are missing out. did you know they make actual 3D holo-movies here? it's totally INSANE.
and yeah, they're like a kids card game, and you collect the cards. then there was a video game and a tv show and a bunch of other stuff. I was totally into it as a kid.
[And by "as a kid" he means last year.]
no subject
I'm not sure I even know what that means.
[Clearly Marco, you'll just have to show him.]
Sounds like they're pretty big on your world. Purg had them, they just showed up like everyone else, but they're completely unheard of on my world.

oh, so you know normal movies, right? they have those here and they're great, high definition, good special effects and all that. but there's also ones where it like, projects into the room, like real life, except not.
yeah they were a big trend back home. which ones do you have?
no subject
[He has no confidence in his ability to ace video games, but he's not going to let that stop the bravado. As for what Marco's talking about next, he doesn't have too much of a frame of reference, considering the time period he's from.]
Is it like virtual reality? I've heard about that.
My brother has an Eevee, I have a Ponyta that recently came through the Portal, a Vulpix that never leaves me alone and a Milotic that showed up here with me.
no subject
it's kind of like virtual reality but it's in the room instead of in your head. that probably makes no sense, but I'll show you.
oh nice. I always liked all those guys (except milotic, I dunno what that is) but my fave was always a growlithe
no subject
That makes Virtual Reality make less sense considering how I was imagining it. Guess I have a lot to learn.
It's a 20 foot snake that lives in water.
[He's just going to send along this picture for reference.]
Really? It's been years since I saw a Growlithe, they don't seem to exist here. I was just telling my room mate about them not too long ago.

I'll be glad to teach you, tech's kinda my thing. especially after spending a year or so in space.
oh wow holy crap, that's a cool looking pokemon! where'd you get it? what kind of attacks does it have?
too bad. I've always wanted one. I used to pretend I had one when I was a kid.
[And by 'was a kid' he means...last year.]
