[ Cisco can tell that Rey is disappointed and hurt, and hates himself a bit. He wishes she hadn't asked. The bit about the Force catches him off-guard. ]

No, not at all.

[ His surprise is clear in his tone, as well as his honesty in how immediate and effortless the answer is. ]

It's nothing about you personally. Nothing you've said or done or are. I told you, that's just how it always is for me. When I let someone get close to me, anyone, my brain starts anticipating the worst, because the worst happened to me before and I didn't see it coming, and, you know, once burned twice shy.

[ Cisco reaches out, touches Rey's shoulder very gently for just a second before his hand drops again. ]

[Rey can understand what he means. She was reluctant to form friendships or trust anyone after what happened to her as a child with the other scavengers. Even now, knowing why her parents abandoned her, she has some doubts about her own self worth. Then, there was the Force. Considering what Kylo Ren could do with it, she thought that could contribute to Cisco not trusting her.

Maybe thinking she could become a monster. Become an enemy, even if that's something she swore she would never become.]

You have your reasons, Cisco, and I can't blame you for them. I didn't know if being able to use the Force contributed to a distrust of me. But, you're not broken. You're not broken to me, and I think Eddie would agree on that. A broken person wouldn't be as kind as you..or offer their food to a lost scavenger.
