Some residents may remember that back in September, a love-drunk and confusion-spell-addled newlywed mage from Gramarye Magic Research let loose some pretty little fairy lights that trapped people in the city in little invisible bubbles until they kissed (and any kind of kiss would do). Well, the same slightly-less-newlywed but no less romantically-inclined mage happens to really, really enjoy the winter season, and thinks it's totally romantic. That particular sentiment is pretty common in the Quarantine - while Hygge is the celebration of familial love, the residents of the Quarantine all agree that that family often includes partners and lovers. Besides that, the folklore of mistletoe as being representative of love and friendship is something that the Quarantine has in common with the universes many residents inhabit.

So, as the last week and a half of December rolls around, residents around the Quarantine will see the result of the resident romantic trying to share a bit of Hygge love - small, glowing sprigs of mistletoe will be floating around the Quarantine, ready to trap people up and make them share a bit of affection.

how it works

● Two or more characters walking under one of these glowing, floating sprigs will get stuck for one hour, trapped inside an invisible enclosure with an approximate three foot radius. The only options are to either wait out the hour, or to kiss! Characters will know they're meant to kiss, because part of the magic spell is the sudden and intense knowledge that they should kiss in order to break free. There is no compulsion to kiss, just the knowledge that that's how to get free. This time, instead of any kind of kiss working, there will be different types of kisses that will work to release the trapped residents depending on the color of mistleglow:

RED: MOUTH ● ORANGE: NECK ● YELLOW: CHEEK
GREEN: FOREHEAD ● BLUE: HAND ● VIOLET: BUTTERFLY

Trapped residents will not know what kind of kiss will work for each color and may have to experiment before finding the right one.

● Post up a top-level for your character with the types of kisses you're interested in threading out, and then go forth and have your character kiss (or refuse to kiss) others!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to play with the mistleglow prompt from this month's test drive meme. If your character is not yet accepted into the game, please use the TDM post!
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Much like the TDM, threads on this meme can count for Activity Points, but not the monthly Activity Check.

[Ichimatsuuuuu... Ichimatsu-chaaaaaan. niichan is a bit insulted! oh well. he begins to think, too. where could he kiss Ichimatsu safely? or should they just wait an hour? honestly, waiting doesn't seem like such a bad idea...

[Honestly if you're not insulted by something Ichimatsu is doing he's probably doing something wrong, but also he means the offense in the most loving of ways. Really.]

[The question gets a hideously sly grin out of the fourth-born, because he knows exactly where it's coming from. Rather than answer him properly, he just shrugs one shoulder and keeps on grinning.]

Wouldn't you like to know?

[a-ah... what a scary face, Ichimatsu! now Osomatsu is even more worried. there's no way around this... they'll have to kiss!]

U-Um... What if I kiss your hand? Y'think that'll work?

[ichimyatsu]

[A snort of laughter, and he shrugs both shoulders this time, extracting his hands from his pockets.]

Come here, shitlord.

[And he's... standing on his toes and grabbing your head? What the hell is he-- oh. Looks like he's kissing your forehead, niisan. Looks also like that weird invisible barrier around you two goes away as he does.]

[uh... UHHH? Osomatsu's confused, but he lets this happen for some reason. probably because he's so dumbfounded by what Ichimatsu is doing.

a forehead kiss... nice... Osomatsu's very affectionate so this is completely cool with him. it feels like he's being praised! when he pulls back, he's rubbing the back of his head, embarrassed]

Oh, hey... you... you did it!

[ichimyatsu]

[He points to various other mistleglows, shrugging.]

They're colored... I first saw it 'cause it made your hair look orange. [Smart guess.]

They're colored? [he looks back to see what Ichimatsu means. sure enough, there are different colors of mistleglow... uhh?] So, what do the different colors mean?

[ichimyatsu]

Hell if I fuckin' know. I guess orange means something about your head, though, since it let us go.

[His hands go back in his pockets.]

...let's go home, though, before we get caught in them again.

[that was... a pretty good guess, though! Ichimatsu, are you sure you don't know any more?

...Osomatsu supposes it's not important, and he nods, reaching around to sling his arm over Ichimatsu's shoulders]

Maaaan! What a pain, huh? Guess we'll be stuck indoors until these go away!

[ichimyatsu]

[He flops into the half-embrace, closing his eyes in a pleased cat sort of way, and chuffs a light laugh.]

What a terrible fate for a bunch of ex-NEETs.

Right, right! [he laughs, squeezing then letting go] It's too bad! I wanted to do a little shopping. But I guess I'll just laze around the house all afternoon.

[he doesn't sound upset at all]

[ichimyatsu]

Shopping is such a novel concept. Go shopping for me too, niisan, I don't wanna.

[His hands go deeper into his pockets and he hunches up with a put-upon grumpy expression as they walk.]

Maybe I'll go shopping with you. Then I can choose my Christmas present!

[ichimyatsu]

[He sticks his tongue out.]

Gross, isn't that supposed to be a surprise??

[Osomatsu doesn't answer, rather he just continues to laugh as they head off towards home. he's keeping his eyes on the skies, watching out for more of that mistleglow stuff]
