Some residents may remember that back in September, a love-drunk and confusion-spell-addled newlywed mage from Gramarye Magic Research let loose some pretty little fairy lights that trapped people in the city in little invisible bubbles until they kissed (and any kind of kiss would do). Well, the same slightly-less-newlywed but no less romantically-inclined mage happens to really, really enjoy the winter season, and thinks it's totally romantic. That particular sentiment is pretty common in the Quarantine - while Hygge is the celebration of familial love, the residents of the Quarantine all agree that that family often includes partners and lovers. Besides that, the folklore of mistletoe as being representative of love and friendship is something that the Quarantine has in common with the universes many residents inhabit.

So, as the last week and a half of December rolls around, residents around the Quarantine will see the result of the resident romantic trying to share a bit of Hygge love - small, glowing sprigs of mistletoe will be floating around the Quarantine, ready to trap people up and make them share a bit of affection.

how it works

● Two or more characters walking under one of these glowing, floating sprigs will get stuck for one hour, trapped inside an invisible enclosure with an approximate three foot radius. The only options are to either wait out the hour, or to kiss! Characters will know they're meant to kiss, because part of the magic spell is the sudden and intense knowledge that they should kiss in order to break free. There is no compulsion to kiss, just the knowledge that that's how to get free. This time, instead of any kind of kiss working, there will be different types of kisses that will work to release the trapped residents depending on the color of mistleglow:

RED: MOUTH ● ORANGE: NECK ● YELLOW: CHEEK
GREEN: FOREHEAD ● BLUE: HAND ● VIOLET: BUTTERFLY

Trapped residents will not know what kind of kiss will work for each color and may have to experiment before finding the right one.

● Post up a top-level for your character with the types of kisses you're interested in threading out, and then go forth and have your character kiss (or refuse to kiss) others!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to play with the mistleglow prompt from this month's test drive meme. If your character is not yet accepted into the game, please use the TDM post!
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Much like the TDM, threads on this meme can count for Activity Points, but not the monthly Activity Check.

[ Shigeru is usually out and about looking for gifts or just drawing. So, you know, he's easy to run into! ]

[This is one of the better people Ivar's ended up trapped in one of these bubbles with. He looks up at Shigeru with a bit of a resigned expression on his face.]

So...this is interesting.

[ Ah, yes, it sure was. For most people this is something easily finished and taken care of. Shigeru is...an entirely different story, sadly. He'll look a bit flustered and unsure on just what the color wants them to do. ]

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to get stuck...this isn't the easiest for me. Do you have any idea what the color means?

[ So Shigeru can finish this quickly and go scrub himself down. ]

You apologize a lot.

[Especially considering this was something that was completely beyond Shigeru's control. Ivar frowns as he looks up at the sprig of mistletoe, trying to remember what the colors mean. This isn't the first person he's gotten stuck with.]

I don't think it's the mouth or neck. Maybe it's either the cheek or the forehead. That's not so terrible now, is it?

[ Listen for Shigeru that is a lot. And here he was minding his own business just trying to go shopping, why this?! He might nod numbly as he looks back at Ivar with a small defeated look. Ugh he really doesn't want to do this.

But at least Ivar is someone he knows. ]

I guess it could be...worse.

Gee, thanks.

[Ivar says dryly. He's just joking, of course. He might not understand precisely what germs are, but he understands kissing for someone who has an obsession with being clean is going to be difficult.]

Shall we get to it then?

[ Shigeru is actually about to type he's sorry again but he will refrain. He just looks flustered and awkward, but that's his usual look so not much changes?! ]

I guess so. [ Shigeru is never ready for this?! He needs to prepare himself for an action that many people give a second thought towards if only because he's not very familiar or comfortable around Ivar just yet. ]

We should try cheek first. [ That'll probably be the hardest for him in all honesty. ]

Alright. Bend down a little.

[He can't very well get out of his wheelchair for this, now, can he? At least he's prepared to be patient with Shigeru. He may not understand the germ phobia, not really, but he understands it makes things difficult for the doctor.]

[Knowing that mistletoe is hanging around everywhere, it's a little annoying to know Shigeru is still wandering around everywhere. It's like he wants to get stuck kissing people... a thought that makes Dodger much more annoyed than it should, given that he's essentially been playing roulette with the sprigs since they showed up.

He's run into quite a few bubbles by now; enough of them at least that he's started to learn the colors like he did for his fireflies. Going in he knows exactly what sort of kiss they'll need to break out of this one, but that just means he'll be careful about how close his lips get to Shigeru's hands; he has no intention of letting him go too early.]

Hey there, stranger. [There's a bit of a mischievous light in his eyes as he easily slips an arm around Shigeru's waist.] Where ya headed?

[ Shigeru startles because his attention was entirely focused on the mistletoe above his head and how he was supposed to get out of it?! He'd been managing to avoid them for awhile by locking himself in his house and only going out late at night when no people were around so he'd just have to wait an hour in the cold.

Listen. It was better than having to kiss anyone he didn't know. Shigeru rather freeze then do that. Still he jumps a little at the sudden intrusion of one Dodger into his bubble. He might almost drop his phone before realizing who it is. ]

I ran out of...cleaning supplies. I...I had to go get some. [ He really can't live without his cleaning supplies so this is his curse. ]
