Some residents may remember that back in September, a love-drunk and confusion-spell-addled newlywed mage from Gramarye Magic Research let loose some pretty little fairy lights that trapped people in the city in little invisible bubbles until they kissed (and any kind of kiss would do). Well, the same slightly-less-newlywed but no less romantically-inclined mage happens to really, really enjoy the winter season, and thinks it's totally romantic. That particular sentiment is pretty common in the Quarantine - while Hygge is the celebration of familial love, the residents of the Quarantine all agree that that family often includes partners and lovers. Besides that, the folklore of mistletoe as being representative of love and friendship is something that the Quarantine has in common with the universes many residents inhabit.

So, as the last week and a half of December rolls around, residents around the Quarantine will see the result of the resident romantic trying to share a bit of Hygge love - small, glowing sprigs of mistletoe will be floating around the Quarantine, ready to trap people up and make them share a bit of affection.

how it works

● Two or more characters walking under one of these glowing, floating sprigs will get stuck for one hour, trapped inside an invisible enclosure with an approximate three foot radius. The only options are to either wait out the hour, or to kiss! Characters will know they're meant to kiss, because part of the magic spell is the sudden and intense knowledge that they should kiss in order to break free. There is no compulsion to kiss, just the knowledge that that's how to get free. This time, instead of any kind of kiss working, there will be different types of kisses that will work to release the trapped residents depending on the color of mistleglow:

RED: MOUTH ● ORANGE: NECK ● YELLOW: CHEEK
GREEN: FOREHEAD ● BLUE: HAND ● VIOLET: BUTTERFLY

Trapped residents will not know what kind of kiss will work for each color and may have to experiment before finding the right one.

● Post up a top-level for your character with the types of kisses you're interested in threading out, and then go forth and have your character kiss (or refuse to kiss) others!
● This meme is for characters already accepted into the game to play with the mistleglow prompt from this month's test drive meme. If your character is not yet accepted into the game, please use the TDM post!
● This meme is GAME CANON, so any threads played out in this meme can be carried through into the actual canon of the game.
● Much like the TDM, threads on this meme can count for Activity Points, but not the monthly Activity Check.

[Emma was window shopping, not that she ever did that kind of thing, but she didn't know what else to do with her time. She gently brushed past a man, but stopped suddenly, unable to move. ]

Oh, sorry... I didn't hurt you did I?

[Force help them. Could the floor just open up and swallow her whole? Why does she find herself in these situations? She should've known better than to not look where she was going, to check for anything hanging over her head. By now she should know what the colors mean.]

[Sternly because, if that blast bounces around, it'll go through both of them. They'll both be injured and dead, and how would that help the Resistance? Think....think she has to think of something.]

If that blaster doesn't destroy the plant and bounces back, we'll both be dead. Either we wait this out or...

[Please ignore how her cheeks are starting to turn pink. Normally, it wouldn't be a big deal, but this was her friend! Her best friend!]

[ He goes where he’s led, the corner of his mouth quirking up a little as she pulls him closer. ]

[ And he feigns a magnanimous sort of air, faintly exasperated, though it falls away as he smiles at her more fully, something small and soft. He pauses, carefully brushing her hair away from her face. ]

She tilts her face towards his hand for a moment, then shifts one hand up to rest a palm on his chest. ]

[ She nods vaguely over her shoulder towards the people milling about, but she seems unconcerned. ]

[She sees the weird glowing plants, sees people trapped in invisible boxes, some trying to push the force field and some simply sharing kisses until it breaks. Some just standing and chatting.

South plans to avoid the glowing bastards, she still has patrols to do and such. And then there's the snow-! She tries her luck at being out and about. And it goes fine! Until it doesn't.]

[ Rin can't stop his scowl. He's been too agitated lately to keep his 'charming' front in full effect, and he's especially sore tonight, seeing all these affection traps littered about. He's mad at himself for not being more mindful. Usually he's always mindful. Obsessively so.

So he snaps back, real irritation flashing in his red eyes. ]

[ She gasps into the kiss when her back hits the wall, breathing hard as his mouth moves to her neck, one hand still in his hair, gripping it slightly. Her other hand is already trying to tug his shirt up, barely thinking about it. She feels hot all over, realizing just how long it's been since she's actually been this way with someone else. She feels touched-starved and flustered all at once.

There's a sharp intake of breath when he tugs at her earlobe, her eyes fluttered shut again. Their surroundings have completely taken a backseat to... whatever this is.

Her hand finally finds the bare skin of his back when he says those words and she grins as she turns her head to say into his ear, ]

[ Taako is the >only person Rin finds acceptable for these seasonal mines of forced cheer, so he's honestly significantly more relieved than he'll let on. He takes Taako's face in his hands, grinning lascivious. ]

(Okay! Lucretia has really had it with getting stuck in bubbles with irritated men. Even though she knows it won't work she still cycles through her spell slots in frustration, attempting dispel magic, and then gives antimagic field another go.

[ He presses her a little more closely to the wall, finds the hand in his hair with one of his own and lifts it above her head, splaying their fingers out together.

Her hand on his back, her breath against his skin. He closes his eyes runs the tip of his nose down her neck until he can kiss her collarbone. ]

I guess I won't.

[ Poe presses his thigh gently between her legs, then harder, and lifts, pinning her hand more firmly against the wall as he does. ]

*Lola sighed and considered for a moment. She wasn't doing a good job. Explaining herself wasn't her thing. Not... really. Especially not when she was already annoyed at things.*

I don't fight, I'm not a doctor, I can't build anything amazing or figure out how to fix this city. Get anyone home. I'm a dumb girl from a cushy life with a dad that loves her. I can cook, and I can try to make people feel better.

I haven't had as hard a life as anyone, so all I can hope to do is find ways to help people calm down, feel better, and try to be happy. But what's good about making others feel better if I can't do anything for myself. Looking good, looking like I want, helps me. And I hope that looking like I know what I'm doing means when I talk to someone else, try to help them... they listen.

What's the good of survival alone? Without happiness to make surviving worth anything?

(She is so close to casting true polymorph on him or something equally petty, but instead she folds her arms across herself, sizing him up. She shouldn't turn Taako's boyfriend into a bug. She shouldn't. Probably.)

I know you aren't familiar with magic, but casting two spells in a row isn't a particularly taxing activity.

He finds attractiveness in other things, and Genji may not know it, but he's pretty impressed with his patience he has had up until now. How very interesting indeed.
He throws his hands up in the air in his defense— so there is a vulnerability, huh? Everyone has them, it's just a matter of finding out what. Not like Gintoki exactly cares about defeating Genji in a fight or anything, but rather, he cares about knowing Genji as a person.

Fighting Genji for fun, though.. that seems like an idea. Gintoki doesn't care about growing stronger, but he knows how bones can get tired if you don't have a sparring partner.

There's a moment of silence before Gintoki leans back and heaves out a gigantic sigh. ]</sub>
