[Marco winks at him a little, and then suddenly Ivar is saying all that stuff, and Marco's going a little pink himself. Lifting a hand, he rubs at the back of his neck and just kind of grins like a complete idiot.]

I mean, I always thought of myself that way, I guess, but it's nice hearing it from you, because you're smart and funny and charming and interesting.

[That last part makes Marco blink.]

[He's dreaming, right? Any second he's going to wake up because nice things just don't happen to Ivar. Or when they do, there's always a catch when the other shoe drops eventually, leaving him more hurt than before.]

Really? I mean, I can't say I've been all that lucky when it comes to long-term stuff, it's all been models and actresses for a couple weeks here and there. The whole dating thing can be really rough. What happened?

[The not being able to walk thing honestly barely registers to Marco. He's never cared, it's never bugged him, he's sorta dated someone in a wheelchair before. He's argued for hours with Ax about how people with disabilities have value and should be treated like they do.]

Oh, models and actresses. How terrible. You must have been suffering. The only woman who ever showed any interest in me back home did so only because my brothers asked her to sleep with me as a favor.

[Then he realizes what he just said. Crap. Well, moving on, his face falls, his eyes going sad.]

I was with Letha almost the entire time I was here. She was pregnant and I told her I was going to be a father to her child. After her daughter was born, things just...changed. She rejected her daughter entirely. Then, one day, I woke up and she was gone. She'd gone to Kattegat, in my world, without even saying goodbye. [Then he adds on in an extremely eerily calm tone still filled with fury.] I think I'll break her neck if I ever see her again.
