[ Jason's supposed to have shipped out days ago, which probably should feel a little more like a weight off his mind than it does. It means he's back where he should be now, if what the brass says is actually true. It means he's not bleeding out in an alley somewhere, refusing to call for help when he needs it.
It also means the chance to fix whatever went wrong the first go-around is gone with him. It's a thought that will needle at him if he dwells on it, so Dick's been doing his best not to dwell. It's all he can do now, he tells himself.
He spots Jason on his way back from work, sitting at an outdoor table as if he'd never left. Probably this was bound to happen eventually. Dick stops short though, thrown in spite of himself. ]
