[As they walk, the laser fence soon disappears into the trees behind them. The city's sounds and the fence's low buzzing fade to silence, replaced by those of the forest. This near the inner fence, they're still not quite into a true wilderness, with trees coming up through and around the shells of steel buildings, vegetation bursting through the cracks in wide concrete roads. The trees are mostly of a kind he doesn't recognize, and the birdsongs are unfamiliar, but pleasant. It's mostly sunny, but it's not oppressively hot or humid. Perfect weather for traveling, actually.
