[ What Wally experienced while he was trapped in the Speed Force is probably something he will never really talk about. He'll never tell anyone how alone he felt, the pain he endured while he tried to keep his sense of self from the cosmic energy, or the cruelty of being able to catch glimpses of reality without ever being able to grasp it for years.

When she searched out his hand in the diner, it was met with some initial resistance while the feelings of embarrassment and guilt had washed over him. He wasn't ready at all in that moment because it had brought a lot of things he has put off and buried to the surface. To say he was overwhelmed in that instance would be an understatement.

This time, though, there's an easy acceptance the moment she places her hand atop of his. He glances down at their connected hands with a warm smile splayed across his lips, the leaf which is now more stem than anything else forgotten in his grip, but the sound of her apologizing has him looking back up so he can meet her gaze with unflinching green eyes.

It might not seem like it, but he really didn't ask her to come out here to hear some sob story. So while he does appreciate her sympathies and everything that comes with it, he makes sure to keep his tone light and reassuring when he speaks next.

Don't be. The only one who has to be sorry is Abra Kadabra. [ And whoever manipulated the timeline. ] He's the one who tossed me into the time-stream and wiped my existence from the world with a spell to ensure I couldn't get back. [ a beat before he adds: ] So you can see why I'm not such a big fan of his.

[ She may not be surprised to find Kadabra was involved given the disdain he showed when he brought the lunatic up during their outing. He'll never get back the time taken from him and he hasn't been able to undo the spell outside of a few exceptions, but at least he got a chance to repay a small part of the debt he owed the techno-wizard after he got back. ]

This stuff isn't the easiest for me to talk about, and I'm not going to claim that I've completely moved past everything, but I'm actually in a pretty good place right now. Being here for the last year has given me a chance to breathe in a way being back home didn't if that makes sense.

[ Being able to build some form of life he can trust without the constant reminders of everything that has been lost has done wonders for his mental state. ]
