That means the grass beneath him bears the brunt of his nervous energy with how it's beaten down in some areas and kicked up in others from where he drags his feet while he paces over the same strip of green again and again.

He doesn't know how long he stays walking back and forth with his hands clasped behind his head in the limited lighting supplied by a nearby lamppost until a voice offering a greeting snaps him out of the anxious reverie he has found himself in. It's Skye, looking incredibly uncertain even as she waves, and he can't help but wonder what is going through her mind.

Dropping his hands to his sides, he takes a deep breath before moving the short distance it takes so he can meet her halfway. His mouth wordlessly opens, not quite sure where he should start despite preparing for this moment for what feels like hours, but she's already filling the silence with words about dreading the worst and secret Nazis. It takes a beat for him to realize she's serious about the latter in the sense there was a first time, and he finds himself shaking his head in disbelief. ]
