When Togo had learned there was a Japanese restaurant in this strange new location, and that she could work there, she had been thrilled. She could make Japanese sweets, socialize, and spread her love of her country all in one fell swoop. It was perfect! At the very least, it would do nicely as a way to contribute. She needed a place to stay until that portal felt it fit to send her home.
Togo bit her lip in worry as she had that thought, tucking what she needed into her bag. A sentient portal... Well, just judging by where she was from, it wasn't the strangest thing in the world, and certainly plausible. This whole place was worrisome, truth told, but she took some comfort in the fact most others here were in the same boat. Taking a deep breath, Togo mentally wiped away the bothersome thoughts, instead focusing on the task at hand: promoting. Japanese sweets being her forte though they were, she decided to start with something simple to introduce those unfamiliar: melon bread. Melon flavored bread on the bottom, melon flavored cookie on top, melon flavored creme in between holding it together. Usually, melon bread sold back home had a slightly under-done top, the cookie needing longer cooking time than the bread on the bottom; however, both were cooked at the same time. Togo always disliked that, so despite her sensibilities telling her to do it traditionally, she had put the tiniest twist into the recipe, cooking the bread and cookie separately, then using creme to hold the layers together. The taste had been to her liking, as well as the owner's, and she had been given the go-ahead to promote the treat.
Placing her bag on the back of her wheelchair, Togo put the sample tray in her lap before gently wheeling out to the front. She was dressed in her uniform, which had been modified slightly to accommodate her situation, smiling as she settled in place near a 'FREE SAMPLE' sign. She made sure to put her brakes on, not wanting to accidentally roll and spill the treat. As a passerby looked down and saw the green-tinted treat, Togo perked slightly. "Care to try some melon bread today?"
