Trenton didn't have any interest in performing in a talent show. Her talents were more along the lines of ones that wouldn't be very entertaining to watch unless there was someone else like her. She's a talented hacker and mathematician and everyone is saved the mind-numbing performance of watching her do either.
She does attend the talent show, though, with the intention to try and meet a few people and perhaps enjoy a good show.

Trenton hadn't been intending to make use of the voucher for the Blind Date Café but free food is too much for her frugal mindset to bypass. At first, thinking of the options she wanted to select platonic, it's the simplest but now that she's here and her last memory from home is the knowledge that she's about to be murdered by the Dark Army.
With that knowledge, she decides she should try to live a bit more honestly and her parents weren't here to be ashamed of her and she couldn't bring dishonor to them here -- at least any that they would know about.
So after some hesitation she quietly tells the waitress, gay, but that she'd also be interested in the platonic option as well. She's not in any rush after all.
