Alex isn't naked and her attention stays firmly on his face when she leans over and extends her hand to him with a smile. That wake he doesn't need to get up, or move in the cloudy water. It was probably easier that way for him, and if he was new, the last thing he needed was to be pushed too far out of his comfort zone on the first day.

"It's nice to meet you, Doctor." The words come with a smile before Alex retreats to her side of the spring again, giving him more space before she asked her first question, because Alex gotta Alex, even if it's in casual conversation.
