Dorian does not, in fact, know much of the Commander's past, though he does know he was present for the fiasco that was Kirkwall and the fall if it's Circle, the catalyst for all the changes that have ravaged the countryside for the past two years, at least in the south. He also knows some of the things both the rebel mages and his fellow countrymen have done recently would give the former Templar every reason to distrust them all the more, and yet he has remained open-minded and willing to work with them, to trust them even. That spoke to his character, and it was one of the many reasons Dorian liked the man.
He could do with a little less gloating, but that was a personal preference, and while Dorian acted irritated with it, it was actually refreshing. There was a reason Dorian didn't have many friends, after all.
"Or a butter knife if you really put your mind to it." Innuendo Dorian had in spades.
"Yes, 'Inquisition' is apparently seen as something zealous and unnecessary as well, at least to the natives of a world called Earth. They've had an Inquisition or two go south rather terribly, it would seem." He smirked at Cullen's comment, rolling a shoulder in a slight shrug.
"Common, of course, meaning common place rather than unique. Ordinary fits the bill as well, I suppose." And he raised an eyebrow as he looked over to the taller man. "But well all dream of being special snowflakes, don't we? Who wants to be ordinary?" And after a beat, he added, "Well, I suppose you may. You're quite skilled at humility."
