Fourth-Wall Action [Overwhelming. That's the first thought that comes to mind as Shalimar explores the new world she finds herself in. Nothing here is familiar, even the aspects that aren't so terribly far removed from what she'd see at home, and with instinct priming her senses to the fullest of their abilities, there's that much more of the unfamiliar to take in all at once.
She's alive. After the explosion, she can be glad enough of that. But that doesn't stop a distinct awareness of where she is and who's around her that sees her quick to correct her path away from anyone straying too close to her. She's not even entirely sure she has a destination in mind so much as she wants to learn her new environment. And maybe figure out what the heck she does with herself when Mutant X is really all she's ever known.
But that can come later. For now, she has a more pressing concern, and if it lets her get a feel for the people around her so much the better.]
So. If I want food that's inexpensive and not terrible, how lucky am I going to be?
Test drive prompt 1
[Fruit-picking. Not exactly the most thrilling job option but right now, a job's a job and if they're willing to pay so well for something that should be so straightforward then Shalimar supposes she shouldn't question it.
In retrospect, perhaps that was a mistake. There is such a thing as too good to be true, after all, but never let it be said that Shalimar is without her impulsive side.
Still, all seems to be going well...at least until her hand brushes one of the leaves while reaching for the fruit and she finds herself unable to withdraw. She's quick to react, kicking the connected branch hard enough for it to break so she can plant her foot on it and use it as leverage to tear her hand free.
Only afterwards, as she examines her hand and considers how lucky it is that she heals quickly, does it dawn on her that she's destroyed some of the precious fruit as well.]
Hope that's not coming out of the paycheck. I figure they accounted for hazard pay, right?
