[ The direct question makes Athelstan hesitate. Sex? He hadn't thought that far, not really. He wanted to kiss Ragnar again, he wanted Ragnar to touch him. The other's slowness gave him plenty of time to think, his thoughts racing. He looked down briefly as the other straightened his tunic and he exhaled softly at the following question. ]

[ There was a rueful smile. ]

I broke that vow with a woman already. [ Athelstan said softly. His transgressions with Judith were not something that made him proud but if he had done so with a woman who did not truly mean that much to him -- despite his words to her. Ragnar was who he always returned to. If he could have broken his vows for anyone it should have been him. It can be him.

In a way, Athelstan is not sure what it says of him and his vows that given the choice to remain in Wessex or return with Ragnar that he had chosen the pagans. Perhaps, that is the true break in his vows. ]
