Takoda Stalinski | Original

[[ooc: i don't have any icons for him, but that will change if i do decide to bring him into the game.]]

[Honestly, barely a day has passed since Koda came to Riverview. It hadn't taken long for him to realize that the magic that disabled language barriers for the humans was also disabling it for him - meaning that for the first time he could understand and speak to them. It had taken even less time to brief him on his surroundings - coming from a space-faring society, the concept of being on the moon was more exciting than anything. The closest anyone he knew had ever gotten to being on a planet. And as soon as they let him out, he'd found his way into the recruitment for surveying the train line.

He hadn't waited for assignment to any particular group, so he's just padding along the path and looking for anyone that needs an extra party member. They'll see a fluffy brown dog, strapped down with a harness pack carrying medicine and supplies, with a large red cross on the chest of it, and a white ID collar around his neck with the name 'Takoda Stalinski' on it. He'll bark a greeting to anyone who seems curious about him, and will likely approach anyone that seems like they might give him a treat.

[Koda isn't much use as an engineer, and in fact knows next to nothing about human technology. What he does know, though, is combat. Sure, the details of training and safety elude him, but that doesn't stop him from jumping up and crushing some large bug in his jaws before it can get close enough to attack one of his human companions.

With its juice dripping down his chin he returns to his companion, dropping the bug on the ground and wagging his tail proudly before he speaks.

It smells like more of those are coming. We should get out of here before they do.

[Among the normal, understandable human memories, there have been a few odd flashes. During the day you may suddenly experience running across a linoleum floor to a water bowl, drinking among various other dogs. Maybe you remember jumping up on a human and licking their face as they ruffle your neck fur. Maybe you remember bouncing with excitement as a human approaches your cage and shows you off to a customer.

Whether or not any of those happened, you will see this dream.

It takes place in a large room with a linoleum floor, populated by fifteen dogs and a human overseer. Most of the dogs are napping, although two have started playfighting and one is begging for pets. Two of the dogs are off to a corner, chatting as they watch the others.
]

You ever think you'd end up here, Koda? [The smaller, stouter dog, speaks.]

What, in the exercise room? Happens very day. [The larger, husky-like dog replies.]

That's not what I mean. [The stout dog huffs.] Here, at the rehab center. Two hundred of our kind being taken care of by a handful of sentinels, hoping to get back to a proper family.

You're not going soft on me, are you, Hank? [Koda's lips switch in the beginning of a smile, as he gets up and moves toward the water bowl in the corner.] Family or not, I've got everything I could ask for. Food, water, and a few sentinel touches a day. And I can piss any spot on this floor I want.

What about love, Koda. Don't you miss that?

[Koda shakes his head like he's shaking off water, and pants in amusement as he leaves Hank to his thoughts. But the smile wanes off of his face, and his tail droops as the memory ends.

This leaves you to decide how to approach Koda in the waking world, as he spends a lot of time exploring the city and sticks out quite a lot with his unique markings.

[Did someone's tablet get dropped on the floor? At first, this video looks like a complete accident. It opens with a dog sniffing at the device, his nose puffing moisture onto the screen, before he leans back to inspect it from afar and lets out a small yip.]

This isn't working, is it. [He glances around, but no one else is around that he feels can help him, so he just paws at the screen, getting nowhere fast.] Why didn't the sentinels think to build anything for our kind...? Hello, can anyone hear me?
