I know how tempting it is to blame yourself when somebody hurts you. To think... if only I did this one thing different, or if only I were just a bit smarter, or stronger, or... or better, it wouldn't have happened. But that's just your brain trying to trick you into being better prepared next time, when the truth is, nobody is so perfect or so prepared or so strong that bad things don't happen to them.
